We are pleased to announce Ana Bisbicus as our next resident artist in 2022.
In her work “Tracing Nepantla in Berlin” Ana Bisbicus is interested in researching queerfeminist and migrant in-between spaces in the city, where contradiction establishes a state to embody. “Nepantla” is an indigenous Nahuatl word and means “to stand in the middle”. Her work seeks to identify the tangible and visible manifestations of Nepantla by mapping those spaces and places from her body and life experience as a queer migrant of colour. Understanding the contradictory challenge of capturing something that is in an in-between state and in constant transformation, Ana aims to approach the work by expanding the practice of mapping towards embodiment and performative strategies in a collective exploration.
Ana, we wish you an enjoyful and insightful time during your residency!
