Experiences

The format of Flutgraben Performances was a very relevant and needed experience for me as an artist and person. First, because of its malleable form, focused and oriented on the process of creation as a “playful act” – instead of being strictly focused on the presentation/production of work. Secondly, because it was a great platform to get to know the process of other artists, and as a “side-effect”, to know and solidify relationships. Last (but not least), this one year gave me time to unfold my practice and interests and to figure out where the core of my work really is.

The camaraderie established and sharing of the differences in the artistic works and the way we communicate in general was what showed itself to be of the most value for me. The initiation and concept of the set up of Flutgraben Performance Series worked in that way for me, and in the most beautiful way.

It was exciting to discover that we all share a need for new ways of artistic exchange, and that we gave ourselves the opportunity to interact with each other beyond the usual competitive relationship of “presentation mode”.

As a pilot event, I found exiting and a bit scary to start something without knowing what this event is going to be. I find that we managed to embrace the unknown and that we let the things emerge rather then to force some ready made concepts and ideas into the development of the event.
